Welcome to the home for “Common Sense” cattle.

The cattle here at Sargeant Farms are bred from the ground up for real world producers demanding everyday function, fertility, longevity, reproduction, Maternal, growth and carcass merit. In addition to genetic supremacy, we also strive for phenotypic excellence. The cattle being offered fit our stringent selection process and we are confident that they will also fit yours.

Our “common sense” approach has proven successful for us over the past 33 years as well as for many customers. As we celebrate the tradition of our cattle we are looking for an even brighter future. With this in mind, I think this may well be the best set of cattle we have ever offered. We are able to offer this high quality set because of the investment we have made in Embryo transfer, Artificial Insemination and selection of the best herd bulls and donor cows we can buy.

Sargeant Farms Breeding Guarantee Dr. David Duxbury does our pregnancy testing work. He has tested a lot of females and does a tremendous job. Based on Dr. Duxbury’s advice, our Breeding Guarantee is as follows: If you want to recheck the bred cows and bred heifers within 30 days after the sale, we will stand behind any individual female that is not examined safe in calf. After the 30 day period all pregnancy guarantees are waived. This is actually a better deal for the purchaser. This way if any calves are knocked out in transit from our place to yours, you have a means to be compensated. Sargeant Farms reserves the right to collect 250 units of semen, collected at our expense and at the buyer’s convenience for in herd use only.

All of the bred females have been pregnancy checked and were called safe in calf to either the A.I. sire or to the pasture exposed dates; please refer to the breeding guarantee for further clarification. Prevention is the goal of our health program and we uphold a very rigorous vaccination program. In addition, the cattle have been ear notched tested for BVD and are all P1 negative.
